EP66: Sixteen Murders. Eight Crime Scenes. Zero Convictions, Night 3 of 7 Nights of Terror

Sixteen people never came home from the hills above Florence.

Between nineteen sixty eight and nineteen eighty five, eight couples were shot in parked cars, always with the same twenty two caliber Beretta.

The killer hunted lovers lanes after dark, and the killer did worse after death.

Police chased one name for years, but the gun was never found, and no DNA ever tied anyone to the killings.

Pietro Pacciani was convicted in nineteen ninety four, then freed on appeal. Mario Vanni and Giancarlo Lotti were later convicted of four of the murders, and Pacciani died before a new trial could begin. The gun is still out there.
