Episode 45
The Night the River Took Them

The documented facts
- On the night of October 11, 1973, Charles Hickson (42) and Calvin Parker (19), coworkers at Walker Shipyard, were fishing off a pier on the Pascagoula River in Mississippi when a roughly 30-foot oval craft descended in blue flashing lights.
- Three five-foot creatures with gray wrinkled skin, no necks, slit mouths, and crab-like pincers floated toward them. Hickson was paralyzed but conscious while Parker passed out from fear. The ordeal lasted about twenty minutes.
- At the Jackson County Sheriff's office, Sheriff Fred Diamond secretly recorded the two men alone. The tape caught them terrified, with Parker's documented words that he could not stand it and was about to go crazy.
- Sheriff Diamond's verdict: if they were lying to him, they should be in Hollywood. UFO researcher J. Allen Hynek interviewed both men, and the case remains one of the most documented abduction accounts on record.
The Draugr does not invent. He documents.

Transcript
The blue light hit the water first. Then the humming. Then the thing that had no business in our sky.
Me and Calvin Parker were fishing the river on a Friday night. The craft came down silent, thirty feet across. And the hatch opened.
Three of them came out. Gray skin, thick as an elephant's. No necks. Claw hands. They didn't walk. They floated. Straight at us.
They took us aboard. Something like a great eye drifted over my body. Studying me. I couldn't move. I couldn't scream.
We told the sheriff. He left his tape recorder running when he stepped out. On that tape, two terrified men who thought they were alone. I can't stand it. I'm about to go crazy. The sheriff believed us.
The Air Force never explained the blue light. The tape never caught a lie. The river kept its secret. Stitch this if you'd fish that riverbank tonight. Follow for a new true nightmare every day. Sleep with the lights on, if you can.
Dramatized for the telling. The facts above are documented; the narration is the Draugr’s retelling of them.
